Collective Vision

Our Vision is for a resilient, equitable and inclusive place-based economy.

We are disrupting the community development paradigm through the lens of equity, people and place, which requires both originality in ideas, but also synthesizing and connecting previously unconnected concepts.

Collective Virtues

Equity

We believe in an economy that works for all people - not just the few. We believe we have an obligation to address disparities in income, wealth, education and health.

Place-Based

We believe in an economy rooted in the history, diversity and uniqueness of our place. We believe in building the assets of the community from the ground up. We believe in telling the stories and celebrating our place and our community.

People-Focused

We believe in an economy built upon relationships - not transactions - an economy focused on nurturing and growing human potential, providing dignified work, high quality of life, and living wages for all people.

Food and Agriculture

We believe food has the power to bring people together, create relationships, share stories and shape culture. We believe healthy food is a human right, not a privilege. We believe in the wisdom of nature, the magic of soil, the stewardship of farmers, and the importance of having food grown in our community.

Community Wealth Building

We believe in an economy where residents can start local businesses which hire from the community, focus on the needs of the local community, do business with other community businesses, and reinvest back into the community.

Civic Participation

We believe in an economy where everyone can fully participate, where people are invested in the wellbeing of their neighbors, and where people work together to enhance civic and public life. Community resiliency is only possible when we have strong relationships.

Actions speak louder than words. See how we turn beliefs into action.
