FAQs

Is the Uplands Community Collective a nonprofit?

Yes, the Uplands Community Collective is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in the State of Colorado. We are currently working on our application for 501c3 tax-exempt status to the Internal Revenue Service, detailing our pilot programs. Even without the IRS tax-exempt status, we are recognized as a non-profit by the State of Colorado.

How is the Uplands Community Collective associated with the Uplands development?

The Uplands Community Collective gets its name from Uplands, a proposed new urbanist development in Westminster, CO. Uplands had the initial vision for a community development organization, and solicited the leadership, vision, and track-record of Eric Kornacki to make the Uplands Community Collective a reality. While the two organizations share a name, the Uplands Community Collective operates independently from Uplands Colorado.

How do I get involved?

During the COVID pandemic, we are moving community engagement online, yet being mindful that there are technology and language barriers that prevent a large number of our community members from participating. We are monitoring guidance from local public health officials about physical public meetings and will likely announce several in-person yet socially-distanced events later this summer. In the mean time, you can get involved by joining our Mobilize Community Platform, signing up for the Uplands Community Collective newsletter, and connecting with us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
